Scattered yes…but united! (in latin Dispersi sunt…sed ita unita!) Our motto adopted by the Association is caracterized by a play on words with our family name. Ouimet when pronounced « à la française » is « Oui…mais » or « Yes…but » in english. Moreover, every Ouimet, Ouimette and certain Bastien family members are descendants of only one ancestor, and they have migrated over the centuries throughout North America under many different names, the most common being Ouimet and Ouimette. Although they are physically dispersed all over, all descendants of Jean Ouimet and Renée Gagnon are united by common roots.
